So with all of the noise Brock Lesnar made when he smashed into the UFC heavyweight division and with Bobby Lashey being brought up by Strikeforce, what other Pro-Wrestlers do you think would have made it in todays elite MMA organizations?

Here’s some food for thought…

Darren Matthews (William Regal) – In his youth, he was a bare knuckle boxer and a very apt submission wrestler.

GSP Vs. Hardy

Allen Coage (Bad News Brown) – Bronze Medalist at the Olympic games in 76 and Gold medalist at the 67 and 75 Pan Am Games in Judo, also received tuition from Stu Hart and Antonio Inoki.

Kurt Angle - NCAA Div Champion and 3 time All American, Gold Medalist at the 1996 Olympics and Gold Medalist in the World Championships in 95 in Freestyle Wrestling.

Steven Williams (Dr Death) – NCAA runner up and ex pro NFL player

Tom Billington (The Dynamite Kid) – Trained at the world famous Snake Pit in Wigan England under Billy Riley, had a great catch wrestling pedigree

Ernest Miller (The Cat) - A World Champion in full contact Karate

Its hard to say if these guys whould have done well or not, but remember, before MMA became successful, pro wrestling was what a lot of guys with real wrestling backgrounds got involved in. On the basis of his achievements Kurt Angle probably would have transitioned best into MMA… amazing wrestling background, Olympic gold medal and if he worked on his striking he could have been an extremely difficult competitor.

What say you? :D
